Doha: Qatar Fuel (Woqood) announced that it will implement a new system that will enable individuals and companies to track the amount of oil that has filled their cars' tanks.
Information Technology Manager Yousef Al-Sulaiti said in a press conference that the new service will help individuals as well as corporates. All they have to do is open an account with Woqood, the company will then attach a smart chip to the account's vehicles. The chip then tracks the account, the type of oil used and how much was the car filled with. All this information is then uploaded on the account for the owner to track.
Al-Sulaiti said they opted to use cards for the new systems due to a number of problems; the main one was that cards could be used by different people. Instead the new chip will be installed in the vehicle independent of the driver. If this chip is removed from the car, the holder of the account will notice that the vehicle was removed from the account and can act accordingly, according to a report in QANA.
