Real Madrid legend and European Cup winner Manuel Velazquez Villaverde has passed away at the age 72.
He played for Spanish giants between 1965 and 1977 wining six La Liga titles and three Copa Del Rey trophies. He also played for Spanish team Malaga.
In a statement, Real Madrid stated on his death "one of the club's all-time best academy graduates, which he went on to show during his twelve seasons as a member of the first-team squad," reported ESPN FC.
Former Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas paid tribute to Velazquez on Twitter saying, ''Rest in Peace, Manuel Velazquez,'' adding ''Legend of Real Madrid. Strength to his family, friend and the entire family of Real Madrid veterans.''
He made 400 appearances for Madrid and scored 59 goals, and won 10 international caps for Spain before ending his career with Toronto Metros-Croatia in 1978.
