Bahrain: Bahrain is free from Mars chocolate products manufactured in the Netherlands, Public Health director Dr Mariam Al Hajiri said in a statement yesterday.
All necessary measures have been taken to protect consumers’ health and safety after US chocolate giant Mars ordered a massive international recall of Mars and Snickers bars made at its Dutch factory following the discovery of a piece of plastic in a Snickers bar, the statement said.
Food Control section officials said they had contacted Mars Gulf Company and its agents in Bahrain to take precautionary action and withdraw any product that may
be contaminated.
They said the company had withdrawn 15 cartons of Snickers and Mars and any related products that could be contaminated with plastic.
This quantity is kept at the company’s warehouse as a precautionary measure pending a decision to send it back to the country of origin or destroy it under the Health Ministry’s supervision, they added.
The US-based Mars company issued the recall in about 56 countries after a customer in Germany found a piece of plastic in his Dutch-made Snickers bar.
