Police raided an illicit factory in East Lahore and recovered huge stash of fake local and foreign currencies, a printing machine, paper, cutters, colours and other material.
Well-informed security sources said that police confiscated millions of US dollars, Euros, Emirati Dirhams, Indian rupees, Saudi Riyal and Pakistani Rupees which were ready to enter market.
CIA SP Umer Virk revealed that some members of the gang were operating from the United Arab Emirates and Afghanistan.
He said police were trying to arrest remaining members of the racket.
Police have identified the arrested persons as Umer Sohail, Shahzad Khan, Ali Raza, Muhammad Anwar, Muhammad Zaigham, Sher Baaz Khan and Rasheed.
Investigation revealed that the fraudsters transport the counterfeit currency to neighbouring Afghanistan before smuggling it into UAE, reported Arabic daily Ittihad.
