MANAMA: Economic Development Board (EDB) ICT senior manager for business development Shaikh Mohamed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa has spoken on the latest ICT industry updates at the latest monthly Batelco Talks.
The event is organised by Batelco in line with its efforts to provide employees with an interactive platform for the exchange of knowledge.
During his talk, Shaikh Mohamed noted the rapid shifts towards digitalisation across both the public and private sectors in the Middle East and North Africa region (Mena), as consumer consumption of content and purchasing behaviour increasingly become digitally focused.
He also covered the role of EDB in supporting Bahrain in its ICT growth and development journey and discussed the excellent opportunities available in key areas including cloud computing, cybersecurity, gaming and e-commerce. The session also presented comprehensive figures relating to the potential opportunities for technology and data-focused companies.
“From the rollout of 5G and the launch of AWS to the first global esports final in Bahrain, 2019 was the year that all the supportive infrastructure – both soft and hard – fell into place for Bahrain to make the transition from a rapidly developing to a matured, world-class tech ecosystem,” Shaikh Mohamed said.
