The Health Ministry has registered six new coronavirus cases carried by three female Bahraini nationals, two male Bahraini nationals and one male Saudi national, arriving at Bahrain International Airport via indirect flights from Iran, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 47.
As part of the measures taken to combat the spread of the Covid-19 and safeguard the health of citizens and residents, the ministry has tested a total of 1,977 individuals returning from Iran and other Covid-19 affected countries.
A total of 1,931 individuals have tested negative, whilst 47 individuals have tested positive and are in a stable condition, it said.
The ministry highlighted that all patients that tested positive have been transferred to an isolation centre for treatment and medical care, under the supervision of a specialised medical team.
It further outlined that it is currently implementing a mobile testing process for the 2,292 individuals returning from Iran before the country announced the pandemic, in order to ensure full medical examinations are carried out as per official measures applied to combat the spread of Covid-19, ensuring the continued health and the safety of the community.
The ministry reiterated its call for all individuals returning from Iran to isolate themselves immediately and schedule their medical examinations via www.moh.gov.bh/444 or by contacting hotline no. 444, stressing that they should avoid contact with others until the medical examinations are carried out.
The ministry also emphasised that all the individuals that test negative are instructed to follow the health guidelines outlined by the ministry, which include self-isolation for a total of 14 days and will receive a paid medical leave during that period, adding that a specialised medical team will follow up with them accordingly.
In line with the guidelines outlined by the World Health Organisation (WHO), the ministry continues to screen all incoming passengers from Covid-19 affected countries, monitoring them for 14 days to ensure they are virus-free and do not pose a threat to the health and safety of the kingdom’s citizens and residents.
