Manama managed to avoid relegation from Bahrain First Division Football League after registering a 1-0 win against Al Busaiteen at Al Ahli Stadium in Zinj last night.
The match was among the concluding games of the league which saw Al Hidd being crowned as champions for the first time ever.
The loss sees Busaiteen relegated alongside last-placed Sitra while Bahrain Club and Al Najma Club have been promoted to the first division.
The pressure was on Manama from the start of the game. However, Mohammed Adel scored Manama’s only goal in the 59th minute of the game.
The win sees Manama go up to seventh place, securing their place in the first division next season with 21 points from 18 games while Al Busaiteen sit in ninth spot with 20 points.
Al Hidd remained undefeated in the season. The champions managed 12 wins and six draws in all their 18 games scoring 39 goals and conceding 15.
Their final match of the season last night saw them overcome Al Hala 4-1 at Khalifa Sports City Stadium.
Al Hidd scored their first goal through Nigerian striker Uche in the 37th minute of the game.
Bahrain’s international midfielder Al Sayed Mohammed Adnan doubled Al Hidd’s lead in the 47th minute before Al Hala’s Joao scored from the spot two minutes later to reduce the lead.
However, the league’s top scorer Mohammed Al Rumaihy scored in the 68th and the 92nd minutes to ensure his side ended the campaign without a loss.
The last game of the night saw Al Ahli and Sitra draw 2-2 at National Stadium in Riffa.
Sitra, who needed a win to avoid relegation, seemed to not handle the pressure well as al Ahli who had already claimed the sixth place.
Al Ahli took the lead in the 15th minute through their Brazilian striker Diego Alves. Sitra managed to find an equaliser nine minutes later through Mohammed Ali. However, Al Ahli once again took the lead through Clayton in the dying minutes of the first half.
Sitra once again found the equaliser in the dying minutes of the game through a penalty kick by Ozemat Berbatov.
