Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa chaired the 305th meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Development Projects and Infrastructure.
The committee noted the inauguration of Shaikh Abdulla bin Salman bin Khalid Al Khalifa Avenue, linking Hunainiya Avenue and Al Muaskar Highway in Riffa.
The committee also commended the Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry on the inauguration of Al Qaryah Park in Block 551 of the Northern Governorate, as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance urban development and expand green spaces across the kingdom.
The committee also praised the Housing and Urban Planning Ministry following the foundation stone laying for the project to build 24 housing units in Salman City under the Government Land Development Rights Programme.
The committee welcomed the launch by the Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB) and the Urban Planning and Development Authority of a package of advanced digital government services, as part of the government’s continued efforts towards comprehensive digital transformation aimed at simplifying procedures and providing the best services to citizens.
Shaikh Khalid directed the Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry to extend the procedures for relocating scrap activities from their current site in Al Mazra’a to the new site in Hafirah (Block 959), allowing beneficiaries sufficient time to complete the transition and ensure the continuity of their commercial and service activities. He also directed the ministry to notify beneficiaries accordingly.
The Deputy Prime Minister also directed the Housing and Urban Planning Ministry to co-ordinate with relevant entities to instal road signs on main and secondary roads indicating the location of Ramli area and guiding road users to it, facilitating access for residents and visitors.
The committee reviewed the items on its agenda and approved a proposal to enhance the efficiency of wastewater systems through linking treatment plants in several areas of the kingdom.
The committee was also briefed on the latest developments of the Tamouh programme of the Housing and Urban Planning Ministry. Tamouh is a supplementary financing programme that provides additional financial support to citizens who have previously benefitted from housing finance programmes, enabling them to expand their housing options or purchase another property after 10 years from receiving the original financing, while maintaining the same monthly instalment for the subsidised additional financing.
The committee reviewed periodic reports, including latest developments in the afforestation plan, which showed that 13 per cent of the annual target had been achieved as of May.
The committee also reviewed statistics of the Benayat building permit system for the period from January to May, which showed that permits are issued within an average of 1.9 working days.
