MANAMA: The second factory specialised in manufacturing solar photovoltaic cells opened its doors in Bahrain yesterday.
Sustainable Energy Authority president Dr Abdulhussein bin Ali Mirza inaugurated Solartecc Green Energy Company at the Bahrain International Investment Park.
Built on a area covering 4,000 square metres, the BD2 million plant plans to produce 80,000 panels annually – the equivalent of 25 megawatts of clean solar energy per annum.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Dr Mirza stressed the government’s strategy to develop the clean energy sector to contribute 5 per cent in the overall energy production by 2025 and 10pc in 2035.
Under the strategy, energy efficiency and rationalisation of consumption would be improved by 6pc in 2025.
“Bahrain is on track to attain the first goal (5pc target),” said Dr Mirza.
