Tackling problem of food waste
There are hungry people in Bahrain but it is unrealistic that everyone with spare food will drop a certain place or prepare it so it doesn’t spoil to give others. As wonderful as an idea that would be. It’s also very unlikely that people would change their eating habits so keeping it as simple as possible where there is minimal effort. Recycling the food itself to put back into the community with energy. In the UK, we have a food trash can with biodegradable trash bags and you put your leftovers in there. You place the bags outside and those responsible for trash collection collect this to recycle. It becomes habit that every time you scrape your plate of leftovers you put in that bag and you put outside with the trash as you do with other trash.

The most important step we can take to reduce our nation’s level of food waste is to reduce our own personal food waste.
Shop wisely: Try to avoid bulk purchasing; it’s convenient but leads to more food waste.
Store food correctly: Keep potatoes, tomatoes, garlic, cucumbers and onions at room temperature to prevent them from getting rotten. Refrigerate leftover food in transparent containers, so that we can see the food when we open the fridges. Don’t throw away the bread, if is it going to expire. Make bread crumbs and store for future use.
Adopt a stray dog: If it’s possible to give a place for a dog in your villa, it’ll be great. Our leftovers could save their lives.
Serve as needed: Even in restaurants train employees to serve the portion one needs, if there is balance food, pack and keep in outside refrigerators for the poor and needy.
Trash cans for wood waste: Keep separate trash cans for food waste, so that organic waste can be composted well to make fertiliser for plants.
Every single person has the responsibility to make this situation better. Let’s hold our hands together and make our country the best!

Since we all know we can’t stop shopping for more due to habit, the food wasted simply can, and should, be used to make other resources by being sent to be composted so it’s put back into the soil. If not it can be put to anaerobic digestion facilities to be broken down and converted into gases to create a new source of renewable energy. Think green, make the world a better place.

1. Supermarkets can donate leftover food to needy families or skilled workers companies or societies, shelter homes, etc.
2. Restaurants can limit offers, buffets, etc., and stick to set menus and limit choices.
3. Families should stick with home-cooked food and reduce takeaways
4. Recycle wasted veggies to garden fertiliser, biogas, animal farm feeds, etc.
5. Properly cover and store well-cooked dishes in neat containers.
6. Always remember: “Eat to live and not live to eat”.

BD84m expo centre to be largest in Mideast
This will be amazing once it’s done and there is some normality back in our lives. Concerts, boxing/MMA fights, exhibitions and expos. This will be great for the tourism industry which is struggling currently. Let’s go.
@khalid_abdulrahman
This exhibition centre will become a model for the exhibition industry worldwide and will reflect the claims of a remarkable modern and progressive government and a great Nation! Bravo Bahrain!

Bahrainis’ average pay rises to BD760
What about the government sector?
Sameer Al Zadjali
These pay rises are making private companies close businesses.
Yasri Dony
This is the main reason many Bahrainis are jobless as many companies and organisations can’t pay salaries according to the requirements and hence recruit expats.

It’s an average ... so it doesn’t really mean anything.
@lara_j_1999
It’s an average, so it could just mean that the already rich got richer. But I’m sure if you looked at the mode or median we will see a different story. Bahrainis are still not making enough.
@sarasoraroxas
I think it’s way more than that...
@ali_mash86
Economic inflation.
@vfmontes
In five years BD70 pay rise.
@foziaayub
Nope, I don’t think so ... employers are not paying over a year...
