Abu Dhabi Centre Waste Management Centre (Tadweer) has hosted a series of specialised technical training sessions as part of the Centre’s continued efforts to upskill workforce across various roles and departments.
In conducting these sessions, Tadweer aimed to improve the efficiency and quality of its pest control services, and to keep up with the latest technologies, tools, methods, research results and scientific studies in this domain.
Led by International lecturers and specialists from outside the UAE, the training sessions were conducted at Tadweer’s dedicated training centres that use simulated models and scenarios of pest control operations.
Comprising state-of-the-art training rooms fitted out with all technical equipment needed for training purposes, these centres are located across of Abu Dhabi, and are used to provide relevant entities with technical information and to create public awareness about the Centre’s services.
In view of the precautionary measures taken by Tadweer to prevent the spread of Covid-19 pandemic and to ensure public safety, the training programmes were conducted virtually using remote communication tools. Training programmes targeted all Tadweer employees from leadership, supervisory and technical positions, in addition to customer services staff.
Running for a month, the training programmes drew the participation of all workers in pest control department as well as the companies contracted with the Centre.
Tadweer’s latest training sessions covered pests control due to its direct impact on public health and its important role in preventing various diseases transmitted to humans.
The topics of the training programmes included a general introduction to pest control, insect classification and its significance, environmental factors, life cycles and behavior of pests, as well as diseases transmitted by them. The sessions also tackled the challenges facing pest control operations. In addition to customers satisfaction general aspects & latest technologies in pest control field.
Focused on pesticide resistance management strategies and pesticide development and use, the training programmes offered useful tips on safety procedures when using chemicals and specialised equipment. In addition, it outlined the advantages of Integrated Pest Management (IPM), and the implementation and sustainability of IPM programmes.
Furthermore, the training programmes incorporated the latest developments, innovations and methods in identifying and controlling dangerous pests such as snakes, scorpions and spiders, and the calibration of pest control equipment such as hand and high-pressure sprayers, and thermal fogger machines.
The training programmes included an introduction to biosecurity, its objectives, components and impact on integrated pest management.
