TRIBUTES poured in yesterday for a young Bahrain-based expat woman who was killed in a road accident in Ireland.
Amanda Kinsella, 27, fell from a private bus near Donegal Town at 3.45pm on Friday and was struck by a passing car, according to the Irish Independent news outlet.
She was airlifted to a hospital in Dublin but died later that evening.
The Irish expatriate was a popular member of the GCC Gaelic football community and had gone home for her holidays.
She was travelling to a party after a friend’s wedding when the accident happened.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Ms Kinsella,” the Bahrain Rugby and Football Club (BRFC) said on social media.
“Amanda was a beloved member of BRFC and our Arabian Celts team who will be remembered so fondly by those who were lucky enough to have known her.
“We send our thoughts and prayers to her family and friends during this difficult time.”
Ms Kinsella moved to Bahrain in 2017 after a two-year stint in Oman.
She was a teacher at the British School of Bahrain (BSB), having previously worked at the Capital School.
“Amanda was everything that we could have asked for in a teacher,” said BSB executive head John Maguire.
Determined
“She fit our ethos perfectly by always putting the child at the centre of everything she did and by ensuring her students were always happy.
“Amanda was a passionate and determined educator; she was exemplary in every regard, and we could not have asked for any more from her.
“During the last year, even under the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, she faced every challenge with positivity and a cheerful nature.
“Amanda loved the Middle East and, in particular, Bahrain. There will be many students who hold fond memories of their time with her as their teacher.”
Ms Kinsella was a passionate athlete and Gaelic football player, who played for Arabian Celts, one of the top teams in the region.
“Amanda was just a fantastic person – on and off the pitch,” the Arabian Celts noted, in a tribute on their Facebook page.
“Kind, funny and full of fun and adventure. She will be sadly missed by all in Bahrain who were lucky enough to know her.
“Our thoughts, love and deepest sympathies are with her family – her parents, sister Aisling and brother David, partner Brendan along with her extended family and many friends in Ireland, Bahrain and around the world.”
