MANAMA: Bahrain has succeeded in flattening the curve of new daily Covid-19 infections in less than 60 days (from June 29 until yesterday), according to data from global epidemic charts.
The new infections indicator started to decline after hitting a peak in late May thanks to measures taken by the National Taskforce for Combating Coronavirus (Covid-19).
Data showed that infections peaked on May 29, at 3,273 new cases in 24 hours.
On June 29, just a month following the peak, the Health Ministry reported 166 new infections.
Health indicators also revealed new infections continuously declined to hit its lowest level on July 26, at 65.
Statistics showed that Covid-19 mortality indicator reached its peak on June 6 with 28 deaths.
The Health Ministry said yesterday that Bahrain yesterday recorded 97 new Covid-19 cases alongside 133 recoveries and no fatalities.
Of the new cases, 23 were expat workers, 56 contacts of local cases and 18 travel-related.
An additional 133 people recovered, taking the total recoveries to 269,260.
Of the 985 active cases, eight are receiving treatment and six are in critical condition.
Bahrain has so far registered a total of 271,631 cases.
The kingdom has conducted 5,781,405 tests.
