A TWO-DAY festival that showcases the best of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) culture, food and other activities opens today at Thai Mart in Diyar Al Muharraq.
It is organised by the Royal Thai Embassy in collaboration with the embassies of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Brunei Darussalam.
The ‘Asean Week in Bahrain’ will be held from 6pm to 10pm and aims to bring together different communities in Bahrain and enhance co-operation between Asean and Bahrain, particularly since Bahrain signed the Treaty of Amity and Co-operation in Southeast Asia in 2019.
It will feature cultural performances such as the Muaythai show from Thailand, Renjis cooking demonstration from Brunei, Angklung and traditional dance performance from Indonesia, traditional attires fashion show and dance performance from Malaysia, as well as the Philippines’ live music performance.
The event will follow the health guidelines and Covid-19 rules and regulations.
