A MAN allegedly swallowed 91 pills of crystal meth in an attempt to smuggle the drug into the country.
The narcotics, weighing 600gm, is estimated to have a street value of BD100,000.
The Asian defendant was arrested at Bahrain International Airport after officials received a tip-off about the smuggling attempt.
The man aroused the suspicion of authorities and was hence subjected to an X-ray which revealed the presence of capsules in his stomach, according to a prosecution statement yesterday.
“Authorities received notification about a man trying to smuggle shabu into the country,” read the Public Prosecution statement yesterday.
“Investigations were launched and the suspect was caught.”
The defendant will soon stand trial at the High Criminal Court.
