A newly-married man jailed for six months for possessing a pornographic video on his mobile phone has lost his appeal.
The 27-year-old Bahraini was found guilty by the Lower Criminal Court in November last year. The same court, however, acquitted him of molesting a 11-year-old boy at his home in Manama in January last year. The child had claimed in court that the man had shown him the video before touching him inappropriately.
Judges dismissed the molestation allegation due to a lack of evidence, but convicted him of possessing pornographic content. The defendant lodged an appeal against his conviction, which was rejected by the High Criminal Appeals Court yesterday.
“Authorities found the pornographic video on his mobile and he admitted to possessing it,” read the court ruling.
