His Majesty King Hamad expressed Bahrain’s strong condemnation of the shooting which happened at a primary school in south Texas, the US.
In a cable of condolences addressed to US President Joe Biden, the King denounced the gruesome criminal act which targeted innocent lives, in violation of all religious and human values. He wished the victims mercy and the injured prompt recovery.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, also extended cables of condolences to President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
The Foreign Ministry also expressed deepest condolences to the US government and citizens as well as to the families of the victim.
The Texas Governor Greg Abbot, meanwhile, said that the gunman, who murdered 19 children and two teachers on Tuesday night, had posted on Facebook that he was planning the shooting in a school about 15 minutes before his rampage. He also said he was going to shoot his grandmother, as well as another one confirming that he had done so. The carnage has sparked a new American debate on tightening gun laws.
