A MAN found guilty of smuggling about 470gm of hashish in his stomach was sentenced to 15 years in jail by the Lower Criminal Court.
The 32-year-old Pakistani national had reportedly swallowed 79 capsules of the narcotic before boarding a plane to Bahrain.
The defendant was also fined BD5,000 on charges of possessing hashish with intent to sell and use.
In his statement to prosecutors, the man said that he was to be paid BD1,000 by gang members based in Bahrain to smuggle the hashish.
He said he was also promised a share of the drug for personal use.
