High-level discussions on strengthening bilateral trade, enhancing logistics frameworks, and exchanging operational expertise were held during an official delegation visit to Khalifa Bin Salman Port (KBSP).
Cyprus Deputy Minister of Shipping Marina Hadjimanolis and her accompanying delegation were received at the port by APM Terminals Bahrain managing director Matthew Luckhurst, alongside chief government and security affairs officer Isa Al Qetami and chief commercial officer Esra Gunduz.
Transportation and Telecommunications Ministry Under-Secretary for Ports and Maritime Affairs Bader Al Mahmood was also in attendance alongside senior government officials to welcome the visiting Cypriot delegation.
During a tour of the facility, the delegation was briefed on KBSP’s advanced operational infrastructure, state-of-the-art cargo and container handling systems, and digital maritime service integrations. The visit provided the Cypriot representatives with a close-up view of the high-quality port operations designed to support local supply chains and propel Bahrain’s broader maritime trade capabilities forward.
Key talks held during the visit focused on identifying new avenues for strategic partnership between Bahrain and Cyprus. Discussions centered on sharing industry best practices, modernising port management frameworks, and exploring joint initiatives to elevate overall operational efficiency across both nations’ maritime services.
Commenting on the visit, Mr Luckhurst emphasised the critical role KBSP plays as a major regional hub supporting national trade and supply chain resilience. He noted that host visits from international delegations serve as a crucial platform for knowledge exchange and international cooperation among maritime leaders.
He reiterated APM Terminals Bahrain’s firm commitment to supporting government-led initiatives that build sustainable, high-performing logistics networks and solidify the kingdom’s position as a premier maritime hub in the region.
The visit forms part of ongoing efforts to deepen bilateral ties between Bahrain and Cyprus, reflecting a shared commitment to building strategic maritime partnerships that promote economic growth, streamline regional logistics, and enhance long-term commercial trade between the two countries.
