Operations at some energy facilities in Saudi Arabia, the world's top oil exporter, were halted on Tuesday following attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi militia that wounded more than 70 people, Saudi authorities said.
Major General Turki Al Malki, spokesman for the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen (Coalition Forces), explained that the Houthi militia's senseless attacks, the latest of which targeted civilian and economic sites in the cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran, injured 73 civilians, including women and children. He said the attacks constitute a blatant violation of the kingdom's sovereignty and a direct threat to the security and safety of its citizens and residents.
Maj Gen Al Malki added that these sinful and unjustified attacks committed by the Houthi militia deliberately harm the kingdom's national resources, facilities, and civilian sites, and confirm its extremist criminal behaviour that rejects achieving peace and stability in Yemen and its Arab and Islamic neighbours.
He affirmed that the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition will take all necessary operational measures to deter this terrorist militia and resolutely confront its hostile approach. Maj Gen Al Malki said that this is in defence of the kingdom's sovereignty, the preservation of its national assets, and the safety of its citizens and residents. The command will also take all necessary measures to respond to the sources of the threat and neutralise its danger, he said.
