A CONDOLENCE meeting will be held today for long-term Bahrain resident Chandersen Bhatia who died on Friday. He was 85.
The meeting will be held at the THMC Auditorium in the Hindu Temple in Manama from 5pm to 5.30pm.
Mr Bhatia, fondly known as Charlie Bhatia, lived in Bahrain for 67 years after arriving in the country when he was just 17 years old.
He worked at the British Bank of the Middle East (now known as HSBC) for 45 years, from 1955 to 2000.
He was associated, as a lead financial consultant, with the National Finance and Exchange Company for the past 20 years.
“He had come to Bahrain at the tender age of 17 and considered this his home since then,” said a statement issued by the family yesterday.
“He was a cricket enthusiast and used to captain a team for HSBC as well as the Indian Club in the 1980s.
“He was one of the most respected members of the Bhatia community and he leaves behind a legacy of respect, hard work and love for his culture and Bahrain.”
