A conference that brings together decision-makers, academics, business leaders, innovators and experts from the Gulf and beyond is set to be staged next spring to discuss new ways to support sustainable development goals.
Arabian Gulf University (AGU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Nexus Events to establish the Gulf Development and Innovation Conference, scheduled to be held in April next year.
In co-operation with the GCC General Secretariat, the conference is intended to be a leading regional platform with the goal of enhancing collaboration and facilitating knowledge exchange.
Health, education, the environment and innovation are the four strategic themes the conference will focus on, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The memorandum to establish the Gulf Development and Innovation Conference was signed by AGU president Saad bin Saud Al Fahaid and Nexus Events director manager David Joseph.
Under the MoU, the university serves as the founder and initiator of the symposium, providing the strategic vision, general supervision and scientific direction for the conference, by strengthening co-ordination with relevant national and regional entities.
Nexus Events will serve as the official organiser, as it is responsible for planning, implementation, operational management, marketing and managing logistical aspects.
The memorandum outlines a governance structure for the conference, comprising an executive committee headed by the AGU president, a scientific committee and an organising committee.
It is expected to attract ministers, senior officials, decision-makers, institution heads, academics, entrepreneurs and representatives of regional and international organisations, and enhance Bahrain’s position as a regional hub for dialogue and innovation.
