THE Indian School Bahrain fair opens today at its Isa Town campus and will run until Friday.
The annual event, being held after three years, will open with a grand finale of the school youth festival, Tarang, from 6pm.
Musical programmes led by South Indian playback singers Siddharth Menon, Mridula Varier and team will be held tomorrow at 6pm. It also includes singers Sachin Warrier, Vishnu Siva, Avani and Abdul Samad.
Bollywood singer Bhoomi Trivedi and team will entertain the crowd at 6pm on Friday.
A food festival will be held on the sidelines, with stalls offering a range of Indian cuisine.
Holders of entry tickets stand a chance to win grand prizes, including a Mitsubishi ASX, while the second prize winner will take home an MG5 car presented by Zayani Motors.
Details were announced yesterday by school chairman Prince Natarajan and senior officials at a Press conference.
They asserted that proceeds from the event would be used for staff welfare and to help needy students.
Around 1,000 underprivileged students get fee concessions through funds generated from the fair.
The school has secured necessary permissions from the concerned ministries to conduct the event.
“It is unfortunate to see that some people with vested interests are spreading misleading information about the Indian School Bahrain,” the school said in a statement yesterday.
“We request community members not to be carried away by such rumours.
“The Indian School is trying to raise funds for needy students and request all parents to extend their support wholeheartedly on humanitarian grounds.”
Parking facilities have been arranged at the Bahrain National Stadium, opposite the school’s Isa Town campus.
Shuttle bus service will be available to the stadium from the school campus during the three-day event.
