The Health Ministry has announced that a newly developed Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 booster vaccine will be made available at primary healthcare centres across Bahrain from November 29.
The National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) has approved the emergency use of the new vaccine for individuals 12 years of age and above.
The ministry encourages those interested in receiving the booster shot to head directly to their primary healthcare centre without the need to register.
The vaccine, authorised as a booster shot, will be targeting the previous Covid-19 strains and the Omicron variants, with an aim to provide the highest levels of protection against Covid-19 and its strains.
The approval of the new vaccine was taken following a study conducted by the NHRA and the kingdom’s Vaccination Committee at the Health Ministry, with the support of the study conducted by Pfizer, on the vaccination’s quality, safety and efficacy.
In addition, the NHRA also held extensive meetings with the company's team and its representatives to answer all inquiries submitted by the authority.
The authorisation of the vaccine is part of the kingdom’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding citizens and residents against Covid-19 and its strains.
The ministry noted that a list of primary healthcare centres providing the new Pfizer-BioNTech bivalent booster shot can be found on the Ministry of Health's website: https://healthalert.gov.bh.
