ACCLAIMED three-dimensional painters Limnesh Augustine and Jincy Babu have unveiled their latest creation to help celebrate the United Nations’ International Day of Disabled Persons.
The couple hope the mighty mural called ‘Limitless,’ measuring a mighty 2.74m x 3.35m, will help promote the rights and well-being of disabled youngsters.
“The artwork portrays a gold fish which is bound inside a fish bowl,” Mr Augustine explained. “Once exposed to the wonderful world outside through an open window, it leaps towards a river of freedom.”
It was painted in a classroom in the Ria Centre in Adliya, an education centre dedicated to autistic and other challenged children and young adults. It was part of the community Big Draw 2022 initiative organised by Dr Anamika Battacharya.
“We tried to make it as bright as possible, I hope the students love it,” Ms Babu added. “I may not know much about autism, but I know that everyone enjoys colours!”
She told the GDN that they spent 15 hours over the course of two days on the painting, using tempera paints and chalk.
The Indian expatriate moved to Bahrain in 2014 from Kerala to join her husband, Limnesh, an information technology team leader. While Mr Augustine is highly-skilled at covering large areas, Ms Babu is more specialised in detailed, hyper-realistic elements.
“Generally, we create our 3D art on multiple surfaces, which means that the viewer needs to be in a specific perspective point to view the complete illusion,” Mr Augustine said. “However, with this painting, we’ve ensured the students can enjoy it from everywhere they stand.
“No one in this world should be limited or forced to contain their abilities due to physical limitations, in my opinion. Our world should be an equal place for everyone.”
The duo has achieved Guinness World Record status. The Indian painter led a team of 120 artists, including his wife and 50 volunteers, in the US, completing the largest 3D anamorphic painting image ‘Piece 4 Peace’ measuring 2,293.79sqm in 2012.
They have taken part in many street art festivals around the globe too. In one in Germany, the couple took first place in the 3D Masters Category for creating a 3D painting of a sports car.
