All irregular workers in Bahrain and flexi permit holders have been urged to take immediate steps to correct their legal status before March 4.
The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) yesterday warned that legal action will be taken in co-ordination with relevant government entities against all violators of LMRA laws and regulations. It also vowed to intensify inspection campaigns and deportation operations across all the governorates.
The LMRA pointed out that workers holding expired, invalid or flexi permits are eligible to register in the Labour Registration Programme, with the exception of those with criminal offences and those who are in violation of the terms stipulated in their current permits.
It also called all workers to verify their eligibility for the new programme through approved registration centres or by visiting its website (www.lmra.bh) and using the ‘Eligibility Verification Service’, or by sending an SMS that includes the worker’s personal number to 33150150, or by contacting the LMRA call centre on 17103103.
