Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa has stressed the importance of international co-operation to deal with global economic challenges.
The minister made the statement before the World Bank Group’s (WBG) development committee on behalf of the Arab Group and The Maldives, represented by Bahrain, on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the boards of governors of the WBG and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
He emphasised the importance of developing plans, strategies and programmes that assist the economic development process as well as contribute to the alleviation of challenges.
Shaikh Salman also stressed the importance of exchanging experiences, developing effective and innovative solutions, and accelerating work within sustainable development goals to maximise the benefits of available financial resources and meet the development needs of countries.
The minister congratulated UAE Minister of State for Financial Affairs Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini on its chairmanship of the WBG’s development committee in its current session.
He praised the WBG’s efforts in supporting sustainable development and enhancing co-operation to face global challenges and achieve economic development.
