IT was my moment ‘To see a world in a grain of sand’ (William Blake, 1757-1827) on seeing the smiling faces of top achievers across the centre-spread of the GDN (‘Students excel in exams’, May 13).
My mind ran a flashback to the struggle and strife an Indian teenager (and the whole family, including the extended family!) goes through appearing for these high-stake exams.
Looking at all those innocent faces, my mind also did a flash forward realising that this is the face of the generation alpha of the 21st century India, global citizenship, SGDs, climate change, mutating viruses, and, of course, ChatGPT!
Hearty congratulations to all the dear students. My heart goes out to you for your hard labour. Let this journey go on, continue to believe in yourself, be grateful to all who supported you, hold hands of those who may need your support, see the world and its problems as yours, stay strong like you just did, lead and partner with right forces as you find solutions to a world you inherit as is.
This is your century, the ship you’re the captain of, lead the way for those who shall follow you to a world that is safer, greener, empathetic, and united.
