Four people in India, who have been accused in the murder of a businessman in Kerala, allegedly used an electric cutter to chop his body into parts and transport it out of the hotel he was murdered in, it was found.
Members of staff at De Casa Inn Hotel, where the crime took place, said they had no idea of what had transpired in the two rooms that had been rented by the victim Siddique.
Staff revealed that he was a regular customer and there was nothing suspicious about his actions, local media reported.
The incident came to light after Siddique's son found Rs2 lakhs (BD910) missing from his father's account; the family also found it suspicious that his phone was turned off.
A missing person's report was filed and the trolley bags in which the body was stuffed was recovered in a gorge in Attappady that was generally used to dispose off slaughter waste, on May 26.
Police also found the victim's car, which was reportedly used to transport the body and later abandoned in Cheruthurathy, Thrissur district.
From there, the accused travelled to Chennai, where they were detained with the help of railway police.
Suspects include 22-year-old Shibli, a former employee at Siddique's hotel; his friend, 19-year-old Farhana; who are considered prime suspects, as well as their 36-year-old friend Ashik who is suspected to have helped them in disposing the body.
Meanwhile, Gafoor, Farhana's brother, has also been taken into police custody, bringing the total number of detainees to four.
Post-mortem reports revealed that Siddique was murdered on May 18.
