FOOTBALL – BAHRAIN’S senior men’s football national team wrapped up their local training gathering last night with a scrimmage played at the Bahrain Football Association (BFA) pitches in Riffa.
The 30-player roster called up by head coach Dragan Talajic was divided into two squads for the informal contest, which was held over a full match’s duration.
In attendance for the scrimmage were Bahrain Olympic Committee vice-president Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and BFA vice-president Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Also on hand were a number of coaches from the kingdom’s national clubs and from Bahrain’s junior and youth football national teams.
The match was the second played amongst Bahrain’s internationals during their gathering.
The training period was the first for the nationals for 2026 and it kicked off their preparations for their major upcoming competitions, among which are the 27th Gulf Cup – which they will be entering as defending champions – scheduled for later this year, and the AFC Asian Cup 2027, set for January.
