HEALTH Ministry Under-Secretary Dr Walid Almanea received a delegation from Nestle Bahrain Trading led by general business manager Amr Abdoun.
Dr Almanea stressed the ministry’s support to efforts and initiatives which contribute to combating noncommunicable chronic diseases, especially obesity.
He highlighted co-operation between the company and the Health Ministry to reduce risk factors and promote a healthy lifestyle in Bahrain.
The two sides discussed initiatives offered by the company, including “Healthy Generations” project to reduce obesity among school students, and the visit of experts from the Nestle Research Centre to Bahrain to classify food and reduce the percentage of salt in food products.
Mr Abdoun reiterated commitment to increase the areas of co-operation, especially in the fields of training, by holding training workshops for those concerned in this field and educating and promoting health in Bahraini society.
The meeting was also attended by the company’s medical director David Georgy and assistant under-secretary for public health Dr Ejlal Al Alawi.
