Spanish record-breaker Christian Roberto Lopez Rodriguez, 34, has set a new world record for the fastest 100 metres sprint in high heels, according to Guinness World Records.
Christian finished in 12.82 seconds, just 3.24 seconds slower than Usain Bolt's 100m sprint world record. The previous record was held by Andre Ortolf from Germany who finished the 2019 race in 14.02 seconds.
Christian managed to finish his sprint without falling, despite the difficulty of running in high heels. "The preparation was very thorough and specific," he said, adding, "I find it quite difficult to be able to sprint with high heels. There are races like this in Spain, and I have always done well in them."
Christian added that he attempted this record to prove that Type 1 diabetics like himself "can do as much or more things than people without diabetes."
