Bahraini youth have been praised for their pivotal role in maintaining the country’s security and stability and safeguarding its cultural and civilisational identity.
Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani highlighted young Bahrainis’ contributions to the country’s development momentum, led by His Majesty King Hamad, with support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He made the statement as Bahrain joins many other nations in marking International Youth Day 2023 today, under the theme ‘Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World’.
Dr Al Zayani stressed their ‘shining contributions’ to national economic and social strides which, he said, has turned Bahrain into a model for human development, respect of human rights, commitment to values of peace and tolerance and support to sustainable development goals.
The minister highlighted the success of the Prime Minister’s Fellowship Programme, the Hope Fund for supporting youth projects and initiatives in line with the National Youth Strategy, the Economic Recovery Plan and the 2030 Bahrain Economic Vision.
“Young Bahraini men and women have scripted success stories with their determination, distinction and keenness to enhance the kingdom’s progress and ensure the sustainability of its democratic and development process,” he said.
Dr Al Zayani commended youth efforts and initiatives, led by the King’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. He also praised the role of SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Shaikh Khalid, meanwhile, praised youth strides in the kingdom.
“Bahrain youth have become a global model through their devotion in various fields,” he said,
Youth Affairs Minister Rawan Tawfiqi said investing in young Bahrainis and supporting their projects is key to achieving the UN sustainable development goals.
“Bahrain has based its policy on investing in youth development in a modern, practical way,” she said.
Parliament Speaker Ahmed Al Musallam congratulated His Majesty and HRH Prince Salman on the International Youth Day 2023. He expressed pride in the wide-ranging achievements of Bahraini youth, citing their success in attaining top positions at various gatherings, reflecting their resolve to learn and be distinctive.
Shura Council Chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh asserted that His Majesty’s constant support for Bahraini youth motivates them to engage in various paths of national action in order to optimise national gains. He expressed pride in the wide-ranging achievements of Bahraini youth, locally and at the international level.
