PARALYMPICS – Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa yesterday received the national Paralympic teams who bagged 36 medals at the fourth West Asian Para Games, held in Sharjah, UAE.
Shaikh Khalid emphasised that Bahrainis consistently overcome challenges to create inspiring success stories and achievements to raise the kingdom’s status.
He praised the teams for clinching 36 medals, including 10 gold, seven silver and 19 bronze.
He affirmed that the sports movement in Bahrain has achieved significant success, thanks to the care of His Majesty King Hamad, the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and the Prime Minister, and the interest of His Majesty’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and SCYS chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Shaikh Khalid congratulated Bahrain Paralympic Committee president Shaikh Mohammed bin Duaij Al Khalifa for the achievement and commended the outstanding performance of both male and female Para athletes.
He also emphasised the need for continued support and care to enhance the Bahraini Paralympic movement and attain more honourable achievements for the kingdom.
