His Majesty King Hamad will depart today for China on an official state visit, at the invitation of President Xi Jinping.
The Royal Court said yesterday that His Majesty will hold talks focusing on bilateral relations and the latest regional and international developments, as well as the outcomes of the 33rd Arab Summit held in Bahrain.
The King will also participate in the opening ceremony of the 10th ministerial meeting of the China-Arab States Co-operation Forum.
Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani emphasised the importance of the visit.
It reflects the depth of relations between the two countries, he said.
Dr Al Zayani noted that the visit coincides with the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bahrain and China.
He added that Bahraini-Chinese relations have witnessed, in recent years, significant developments, with the support of the two leaderships.
The minister recounted the Bahraini-Chinese summit held between His Majesty and the Chinese President in Riyadh in 2022, on the sidelines of their participation in the Arab-Chinese summit hosted by Saudi Arabia.
He said that the official discussions between the two leaders will address strengthening relations in the political, economic, commercial, investment and development fields.
Discussions will also touch on expanding co-operation by signing a number of memorandums of understanding and agreements, he added.
The minister said that His Majesty and the Chinese President will also discuss regional and international developments and challenges and the current status of the war in the Gaza Strip, Arab and international efforts to reach a ceasefire and protect civilians, and the repercussions of the war on the civilian population.
The talks will also address the outcomes and initiatives of the Arab Summit, hosted by Bahrain.
