The 10th GCC Conference on Occupational Health and Safety kicked off in Muscat today under the theme of “Welfare and Ideal Health at Work”.
HH Sayyid Faris Fatik Al Said presided over the opening of the two-day conference, organized by the Ministry of Labour.
The conference lays emphasis on the significance of observing occupational health and mental health at the workplace. It elaborates on the extend to which occupational health influences success and productivity.
The meeting offers an opportunity for the participants to exchange knowledge and expertise with specialists in the field of mental health, occupational safety and the wellbeing of employees. It also seeks to enhance awareness about issues of mental health at the workplace.
Through its 14 sessions, the conference reviews working papers on recent global trends in realizing employee wellbeing. The papers deal with ideal health measures, the impact of emotional intelligence on mental health and the role of innovation and technology in enhancing wellbeing at the workplace. The papers also cover occupational health in the digital age and review successful experiences in local and international arenas.
The conference focuses on establishing a healthy and supportive work environment, as well as the role of information technology in devising programmes for promoting this theme.
The event targets executive managers, directors-general, operation supervisors and all other personnel responsible for occupational health and safety.
