Bahrain’s Paris 2024 Olympics champion Akhmed Tazhudinov has undergone successful surgery on a season-ending shoulder injury. The freestyle wrestler posted a picture on social media yesterday from his hospital bed in Zurich. The Bahrain Wrestling Federation confirmed last night Tazhudinov’s successful procedure. No further details of his injury, the operation, or his recovery plan were given. Tazhudinov revealed in an exclusive interview with GDN earlier this week that he had competed at this year’s Olympics with the shoulder injury, which makes his gold medal triumph in the men’s 97kg division more remarkable. Because of the required medical procedure, the 21-year-old, who is also the reigning world champion in his weight class, will be sitting out the remainder of 2024 and will focus on a return to action next year.
