The Bahrain delegation, headed by Bahrain Chamber food committee chairman Khalid Al Ameen, continued its official visit to Thailand through its participation in the opening of the International Halal Expo in Bangkok.
The participation represents another important step in ongoing efforts to enhance cooperation between Bahrain and Thailand in the fields of the halal economy, food industries, food security, investment, and supply chain development.
The delegation’s participation in the exhibition follows its visit to the Halal Science Centre at Chulalongkorn University in May, which provided an opportunity to explore Thailand’s advanced experience in developing the halal ecosystem and benefit from its scientific and technical expertise in this vital sector. The visit also highlighted opportunities for knowledge exchange and closer co-operation between relevant institutions in both countries.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition was attended by Bahrain’s Ambassador to Thailand Khalil Al Khayat and the Thai Ambassador to Bahrain, Sumet Chulajata, along with senior officials, representatives of institutions and executives from specialised halal companies from around the world.
During the exhibition, the Bahrain delegation reviewed the latest halal products, innovations, and technologies, while holding a series of bilateral meetings with officials, experts, and representatives of international companies. Discussions focused on opportunities to strengthen co-operation in food industries, food manufacturing, logistics services, supply chains, halal certification systems, and innovation in the food sector, as well as exploring potential investment partnerships between the private sectors of both countries.
The delegation highlighted the importance of benefiting from Thailand’s successful experience in establishing an integrated halal industry ecosystem based on scientific research, modern technology and internationally recognised certification standards. Thailand has become one of the world’s leading producers and exporters of halal products, particularly to GCC markets and emerging Islamic markets.
The delegation also emphasised that the visit to the Halal Science Centre provided valuable insights into the centre’s role in advancing scientific research, conducting advanced laboratory analyses, and applying modern technologies to ensure the quality and compliance of halal products with international standards. Such co-operation represents an important foundation for further developing economic relations between Bahrain and Thailand.
Mr Ali Al Ameen affirmed that the Bahraini participation in the expo reflects Bahrain Chamber’s commitment to supporting the private sector and enhancing the presence of Bahraini companies in global markets, particularly in Asia, by exploring successful international experiences and identifying opportunities for co-operation and investment partnerships with Thai counterparts.
He stated that the food sector represents one of the key strategic sectors receiving increasing attention in Bahrain, noting that enhanced co-operation with Thailand in halal industries, supply chains, and food technology can create new opportunities for Bahraini and Thai companies while supporting both countries’ efforts to achieve food security and sustainable economic development.
