The Labour Ministry said it was following up with an Islamic bank after several of its employees were allegedly sacked without prior notice.
The ministry today asserted that it was closely monitoring the situation, and affirmed its keenness to preserve the rights of workers in the country.
Contact has been made with the bank to discuss the possibility of avoiding the dismissal of employees and finding an alternative solution, the ministry said in a statement.
Online reports claimed that about 26 employees were dismissed and asked to submit their resignations in exchange for a severance package that includes 12 months' salary.
Further reports claimed that the bank management allegedly did not even allow employees to collect their personal belongings.
So far, no reason has been given for the terminations.
