The King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence (KHGC) mourned Cardinal Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot, a member of the centre’s board of trustees and the head of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue at the Holy See, who died at the age of 72.
The cardinal was recognised for his remarkable contributions to humanity and dedication to fostering interfaith and cultural dialogue, tolerance, and coexistence, it said.
Transportation and Telecommunications Minister and the centre’s board of trustees chairman Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa expressed deep sorrow over the demise of the cardinal, describing him as a prominent advocate of interfaith and intercultural dialogue and a symbol of peaceful coexistence.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Cardinal, the people of Spain and the Holy See.
