A residential building collapsed Tuesday morning leaving at least eight dead and six injured in the Abbsia neighbourhood of Cairo, Egypt.
According to local sources, residents had complained about cracks showing up in several parts. The building owner reportedly refused to fix any issues unless the residents paid for them.
The public prosecution office started an investigation following the incident, and the mayor of Cairo ordered the establishment of a committee of engineers to inspect all nearby properties and guarantee their safety.
Police have evacuated surrounding buildings as a precautionary measure as they continue to search for more survivors under the rubble.
