Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa last night inaugurated the Celebrate Bahrain festival at the Heritage Village in Ras Hayyan.
The festival celebrates Bahrain’s National Days, commemorating its founding as a modern Arab and Muslim state in 1783 by Ahmed Al Fateh, and marking the anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad’s accession to the throne.
He noted that National Day celebrations reflect the values of citizenship, belonging and national identity of the people of Bahrain. The events also highlight Bahrain’s achievements that contribute to the kingdom’s comprehensive development under the leadership of His Majesty, with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, he added.
Shaikh Mohammed extended his congratulations to the King and HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, expressing his wishes for Bahrain’s continued progress and prosperity.
He noted that the festival showcases authentic Bahraini folklore and heritage, embodying the rich cultural legacy of Bahrain, which continues to be passed down to future generations.
He expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all members of the Information Ministry for organising the festival and extended his best wishes for their continued success in their endeavours during the National Day celebrations.
Shaikh Mohammed witnessed a performance by the National Guard and the Alkray Team, showcasing Bahrain’s heritage.
He toured the festival, and was briefed on events presented by various ministries, government agencies and the private sector.
Activities include heritage shows, traditional crafts, a market showcasing various local products and entertainment programmes for children.
Information Minister Dr Ramzan Al Nuaimi expressed his gratitude to Shaikh Mohammed for inaugurating the festival, and emphasised the ministry’s commitment to hosting it annually.
He noted that the festival also provides an opportunity to showcase the kingdom’s national achievements in the context of the comprehensive development initiated 25 years ago under the leadership of His Majesty, with the support of HRH Prince Salman.
