Singing sensation Nadia Iqbal, who was set to perform in Bahrain, is recovering in hospital after being involved in a road smash in the kingdom.
The 35-year-old Pakistani rising star was a passenger in a four-wheel drive vehicle involved in a collision on Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Highway near Jidhafs.
She was taken by ambulance to Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) on Saturday battered, bruised and suffering from what appeared to be whiplash injuries.
She was later discharged but needed further treatment yesterday after complaining of intense pain to her neck and chest.
The incident has led to the cancellation of her much-anticipated sold-out concerts yesterday, today and tomorrow at La Rosa Hotel in Juffair, much to the disappointment of fans.
Her upcoming project with renowned Indian pop singer Yo Yo Honey Singh is also on hold until further notice.
The artist’s last performance in the kingdom was alongside British-Indian rapper Panjabi MC and Sadi Joddy. She is known for her past collaborations with reputed names like Atif Aslam and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan – both renowned Pakistani singers whose portfolios span diverse indie music and Bollywood.
The performer has been described as a ‘cheerleader for minority female singers’ in her home country and elsewhere, encouraging them to pursue their dreams. Her recent single Beri Piya (Vengeful Lover) has attracted more than 25,000 views on YouTube.
