VOLLEYBALL – AL Ahli powered into the championship series of the 2024-25 Isa bin Rashid Bahrain Volleyball League last night.
Ahli secured their spot after outclassing Al Najma in three sets in their Golden Square semi-final clash yesterday, played at Isa bin Rashid Volleyball Arena, located at Isa Sports City in Riffa.
Ahli were in a class of their own and once they were in their groove, they secured the resounding sweep with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-18) final score line.
Ahli headed into the game with a twice-to-beat advantage, which they made the most of to close out the head-to-head in one game.
They completed their campaign in the league’s Top Six stage with an undefeated record in 10 games and maintained their winning ways last night.
In the finals, which are set to be played in best-of-three format, Ahli will face off with the winners of the other Golden Square clash between two-time defending champions Dar Kulaib and Muharraq. Their series is also set to be played best-of-three.
Stepping up in a big way for Ahli in their win last night were top Bahrain internationals Mohammed Anan, Ali Ebrahim, Sayed Mohammed Al Abbar, Hasan Haider, Hani Alawi, Mahmood Hasan, and French professional Joachim Panou.
Anan finished as their leading scorer in the win with 24 points. He scored 10 in the first set and then had seven in each of the next two frames.
The championship series has yet to be scheduled by the Bahrain Volleyball Association.
