FORMULA One guests will be able to offset their travel-related emissions at the point of sale when purchasing tickets for the 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix later this year, thanks to a new collaboration.
Safa, a voluntary carbon offsetting platform that provides individuals and businesses with the tools to understand and manage their carbon footprint, and Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), have partnered together, enabling ticketholders to proactively address climate concerns by offsetting the carbon emissions associated with their travel.
The collaboration brings together two portfolio companies of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat) sovereign wealth fund of Bahrain, in a venture that supports the kingdom’s strategy to reduce 30 per cent of its carbon emissions by 2035 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2060.
This is particularly crucial, as travel usually constitutes the largest source of carbon emissions.
The decision also underscores Safa’s mission to deliver sustainable solutions and BIC’s broader environmental efforts which are reflected through its FIA Three Star Environmental Accreditation, renewable energy initiatives, and the circuit’s long-standing sustainability programme under the theme of ‘Racing Towards a Greener Future’.
