Four dazzling stage productions of Seussical Jr were staged at the Saar campus of St Christopher’s School giving young performers a chance to star under the lights.
The musicals marked a significant milestone in the Performing Arts calendar as the first-ever musical to be dedicated solely to Year 7 and 8 students.
“It provided a unique platform for our younger Senior School performers to take centre stage – and they rose to the occasion with flair,” said St Chris drama lead Kerry Scott.
From the first beat of the overture to the final bow, Seussical Jr transported audiences into the wild and whimsical world of Dr Seuss.

With toe-tapping tunes and colourful characters, the story followed Horton the Elephant – loyal, kind and steadfast in his belief that ‘a person’s a person, no matter how small’.
Joined by a cast of memorable personalities including the mischievous Cat in the Hat, devoted Gertrude McFuzz and larger-than-life Mayzie La Bird, the students delivered performances brimming with humour, heart and energy.
Behind the scenes, the student and staff production crew worked with precision and professionalism, managing set changes, lighting, sound and props.

The school’s efforts created a seamless stage experience and helped bring the magic of the stories to life, members of the audience confirmed.
Speaking on the successful event Ms Scott added: “More than just a musical, Seussical Jr was a moment of growth and discovery for our Year 7 and 8 students.
“It gave them the chance to shine, to collaborate and to build confidence in a supportive and creative environment. The bonds formed during rehearsals and the pride taken in every performance reflect the true spirit of St Chris.
“We congratulate the entire casts and crew for unforgettable shows and look forward to many more moments like these in the spotlight. Also, a ‘thank you’ to Ardaas Holdings for sponsoring the production.”
