A reception was held by the minister for a delegation from Guangdong Province, China, headed by Deputy Governor of the Provincial Government Liu Hongbing and attended by a number of officials from the province’s cultural, tourism, sports and foreign affairs sectors.
Ms Al Sairafi explained that China is one of the main tourism markets targeted by Bahrain as part of its 2022-2026 tourism strategy.
She noted that the kingdom is keen to continue its tourism promotion efforts in co-operation with major travel and tourism companies and to study the interests of Chinese tourists, aiming to continue to attract a greater number of Chinese visitors by launching specialised tourism packages in co-operation with travel agencies and agents in China.
In addition to that, the country is also seeking to strengthen co-operation in the tourism sector by co-ordinating with major companies involved in the conference, meetings and business sectors in China to host distinguished events in Bahrain, she said.
They discussed ways to enhance tourism co-operation with Guangdong Province, as well as, opportunities to exchange expertise, while organising joint tourism events and initiatives.
The minister noted that the launch of direct flights by Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain, to both Guangzhou and Shanghai supports joint efforts in various fields, economic and tourism sectors in particular.
Ms Al Sairafi affirmed the kingdom’s aspiration to build on its existing relations with China, contributing to opening new horizons for qualitative co-operation, particularly in the field of sustainable tourism, the exchange of tourist and investment delegations, and promoting Bahrain’s tourism, heritage and cultural assets.
Mr Liu Hongbing expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome, emphasising Guangdong Province’s keenness to strengthen co-operation with Bahrain and to explore initiatives that contribute to developing tourism and cultural co-operation between both sides.
