THOUSANDS of Bahrain’s business leaders will head to the polls today to elect a new board of directors for the Bahrain Chamber, marking a defining milestone for the kingdom’s private sector.
Voting for the 31st term is scheduled to take place at Exhibition World Bahrain from 8am to 10pm.
The Elections Committee chairman Abbas Abdulmohsen Radhi described the event as a “pivotal moment” that transcends a mere procedural vote.
“This represents the collective will of the business community and its vision for a more prosperous, sustainable future,” Mr Radhi said. “It is a crucial juncture that will shape the next phase of our private sector’s growth and regional competitiveness.”
Mr Radhi emphasised that the elections carry exceptional weight this year as the private sector continues to act as a primary engine for national economic diversification.
He noted that electing a competent and visionary board is fundamental to supporting national economic initiatives, enhancing the ease of doing business in the kingdom, and navigating rapid regional and global economic transformations.
“Participating today is a national responsibility,” Mr Radhi added. “It is a genuine opportunity for every member to have a direct say in economic decision-making and to ensure the chamber effectively represents their interests.”
In the run-up to today’s opening, the Elections Committee held an intensive awareness session yesterday for candidates and media representatives to ensure total transparency and operational readiness.
The session provided a comprehensive breakdown of the electoral roadmap, including voter registration, the digital voting mechanism, and the final counting process.
Media representatives were also given a walkthrough of the centre to inspect the logistical arrangements.
The tour highlighted streamlined entry and exit routes designed to manage high voter turnout, alongside dedicated zones for candidates and voter registration.
Furthermore, the committee showcased advanced technical setups in the voting and counting halls, ensuring both accuracy and speed throughout the electoral process.
A practical demonstration of the voting steps was conducted to showcase the efficiency of the system, which the committee says was designed to provide a “seamless electoral experience.”
The committee also addressed specific candidate inquiries during the meeting, reaffirming the principle of equal opportunity and the integrity of the process.
“We call on all members to cast their votes today,” Mr Radhi concluded. “Elect a board that reflects your ambitions and is capable of leading the next phase with confidence.”
