WRESTLING – BAHRAIN’S youth and junior wrestling national teams have departed for a training camp in Russia as part of their preparations for upcoming competitions.
The delegation is headed by Bahrain Wrestling Federation president Abdulredha Haji and it includes renowned wrestling coach Sharap Gitinov.
The kingdom’s young grapplers feature Hamad Issa Al Mahri, Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Balooshi, Hassan Mohammed Al Balooshi, Nasser Mohammed Zaman, Ali Mohammed Zaman, and Sultan Mohammed Al Balooshi.
Haji said that the camp is part of the strategy of the Bahrain Combat Sports Council (BCSC), headed by General Sports Authority vice-chairman and BCSC president Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, to develop the kingdom’s wrestlers in various age groups.
Haji added that the camp will include morning and evening training sessions and friendly matches against local wrestlers, which would expose the Bahraini youngsters to Russian competitors.
Haji highlighted that this training period will help in the development of a strong generation that is technically and mentally qualified to compete for Bahrain’s national team in continental and international championships.
