His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, yesterday received British Ambassador to the US Lord Peter Mandelson at Blair House, the President’s Guest House, in the Washington DC.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s official visit to the United States, during which he met President Donald Trump, as well as senior officials from the US administration.
HRH Prince Salman affirmed the strength of the historic relations between Bahrain and the United Kingdom, highlighting the advanced levels of joint co-ordination through strategic partnerships and agreements, including the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA), which the UK recently joined at the invitation of the kingdom and the US.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister emphasised that the C-SIPA has established a solid foundation for security integration and prosperity in the Middle East. This reflects the region’s collective aspirations for peace, development and co-operation, encouraging strong relationships across the region.
HRH Prince Salman welcomed the UK’s full participation in the C-SIPA, which acts as multilateral framework aimed at bringing together like-minded countries to enhance regional security, strengthen deterrence against external threats and expand co-operation in trade, science and technology, to support peace and stability in the Middle East.
He expressed his hope that more countries would join the agreement, which would benefit everyone in the region and further bolster co-operation.
HRH Prince Salman stressed the importance of further bolstering the Bahrain-UK partnership, to create lucrative opportunities across various fields in line with shared goals and ambitions.
Latest regional and international developments as well as other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
Prime Minister’s Court Minister Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and several senior officials also attended the meeting.
